Rejoice and Sing! — August 28, 2020

Derived from a range of outstanding choral music, my themed Playlists are designed to be like concerts, of about an hour in length.

This week’s Playlist exemplifies and conveys unadulterated joy, with works by Bach, Whitacre, Vaughan Williams, Britten’s ebullient Rejoice in the Lamb and Beethoven’s electrifying Gloria from his Missa Solemnis.

Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958)

O Clap Your Hands

O clap your hands, all ye people;
Shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
For the Lord most high is terrible.
He is a great King over all the earth.
God is gone up with a shout,
The Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God; sing praises.
Sing praises to our King; sing praises.
For God is the King of all the earth.
Sing ye praises with understanding.
God reigneth over the heathen.
God sitteth upon the throne of His holiness.
Sing praises unto our King. Sing praises.
