You may remember Runestad from our November 2018 performance of Dreams of the Fallen, with piano soloist Jeffrey Biegel. This powerful work explores the impact of war on an individual, especially after he or she returns from combat.

Listen to this stunning excerpt of Dreams of the Fallen, performed by True Concord in 2018:

For our February 2022 concert, From the Edge to Hope, True Concord has commissioned Runestad and librettist Todd Boss to collaborate on a work that addresses the climate crisis. This monumental work for chorus and orchestra explores the threat of inaction and the need for reversal and renewal through our shared commitment to positive change – yet another “can’t-miss” event!

True Concord performed another moving Runestad work, Let My Love Be Heard, in October 2021. View the video of this performance:

In 2019, True Concord performed Hagen’s multimedia work, The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, which combined choir and orchestra with projected real-time animations above the ensemble.

Listen to the inspiring final movement of The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci from True Concord’s 2019 performance:

We planned to perform the world premiere of new multimedia symphony by Hagen: Here I Am, commissioned by True Concord in celebration and honor of influential women around the globe this month, January 2022, but unfortunately had to postpone the program. This innovative work for chorus, orchestra, soprano soloist (Met Opera star Susanna Phillips), treble chorus (Tucson Girls Chorus) and 47 illuminated portraits, which Hagen commissioned for this project. This is truly a “not-to-be-missed” musical event!

Our January 2022 concert, From Silenced to Singing, has been postponed to next season, however we are still very excited for this program and cannot wait for Hagen’s world premiere. This program will now be January 27 – 29, 2023. Tickets will be available for purchase with the new season.
