Coming off our gala 20th Anniversary season, True Concord has never been more proud to be a part of the vibrant cultural fabric of Tucson. We celebrate the 250th anniversary of Tucson’s founding in 1775 with a season of concerts that connect our music to the city we know and love.
You’ll enjoy favorites like Mozart’s Requiem & Stephen Paulus’s Prayers and Remembrances; Brahms’s second set of “Love Song Waltzes;” plus Baroque gems like Vivaldi’s Gloria & Handel’s Dixit Dominus; and an All-American program featuring Airborne Symphony by Marc Blitzstein, whose work celebrating flight was championed and recorded twice by Bernstein; Copland’s Lincoln Portrait and Thompson’s Testament of Freedom and more!
The season also features the Southwest Premieres of Co-Composer-in-Residence Timothy C. Takach’s Unfashioned Creature: A Choral Ballet on the Frankenstein story and the world premiere of a brand-new setting of a Tucson-inspired poem by 2024 Stephen Paulus Emerging Composers Competition Winner – Carlos Cordero. And witness the first-time ever collaboration with the GRAMMY-winning Phoenix Chorale on an all-French program including Duruflé’s Requiem.
We also welcome the acclaimed opera superstar and GRAMMY-winning bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green to kick off our Close-Up Vocal Recitals in 2025 with a new program he’ll give as part of his Carnegie Hall recital debut the next week. Learn about his incredible story from a recent 60 Minutes interview.
By popular demand, the Close-Up Series will also include a return performance by the collaborative vocal band Nation, comprised of Co-Composers-in-Residence Timothy C. Takach and Jocelyn Hagen at the Hotel Congress Century Room. Then, experience up close and personal our much-loved frequent company soloist, Chelsea Helm in the charming inner courtyard of Hacienda del Sol. These Close-Up Series recitals routinely sell out, and subscribers get first access to this three-concert package of exciting programs.
We are also excited for the return of our new Holiday Special that completely sold out in its first season. Season Ticket Holders get exclusive access to tickets.
