True Concord’s Re-imagined Fall Season
We are pleased to announce news about the revised 2020-21 True Concord season. Following much work on behalf of the staff and board of directors, we have determined we will be able to present a revised fall (October – December) season and will continue to finalize plans on a revised spring (January – April) season.
The board’s reopening task force, led by Dr. Eve Shapiro, a board member and longtime medical doctor, studied various performing options, CDC and local guidelines and key local health metrics over the spring and summer. With the safety of our artists, our audiences, and our community as top priority, the task force has recommended a path forward in the form of a “bubble.”
This concept fits the fall portion of our season (plus a few extra add-on options) into a five-week period. Over the course of this time, a smaller group of artists will come to Tucson and go into isolation to ensure they are virus-free. They will then begin a series of rehearsals and performances.
Read the story in the Arizona Daily Star.
Safety Measures
- Upon arrival in Tucson, artists will be tested and individually isolate for 10 days (WHO guidelines indicate 10 days is sufficient isolation time for asymptomatic individuals.) They will not have contact with the outside world.
- After going through the isolation period and testing, artists will be virus-free but will still adhere to strict policies & procedures outlined by the task force.
- At all live concerts, audiences will be required to wear masks and socially distance from each other. There will also be ample distance between musicians and audience.
- As much as we enjoy chatting and having cookies with you after concerts, there will be no mingling between artists and audience members at concerts.
- There will be separate entrance and exit points for audience members at live concerts.
- At live concerts, True Concord will offer contactless ticket taking procedures as well as digital programs.
- We continually monitor the local health situation and will make adjustments if needed for the sake of everyone’s well-being.
Programming
The fall season will include a combination of outdoor, socially distanced performances and online concerts that you can watch from the comfort of your home. Per local restrictions, seating at the live performances will be limited to 50 people.
All online concerts will be recorded in a high-quality, multi-camera video production, on location at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, by the award-winning crew of Arizona PBS. These concerts will be a unique opportunity to see and hear True Concord as never before. For an example of Arizona PBS’s work, see their video of True Concord’s 2018 performance of Verdi’s Requiem.
To watch the video concerts, you will be emailed a link that will direct you to our video streaming platform. You can watch them on any device that views online videos, such as computers, tablets, phones and some TVs that have streaming devices or capability.
